Language learning at young ages

The children in my English language classes are taught through a range of educational methods. These methods aim to provide visual stimulus (looking and reading), aural stimulus (listening and hearing), verbal stimulus (speaking) and physical stimulus (doing - including writing and responding to instruction) - all of which enforce and enhance the language learning process.

At the early stages of language learning, children have a limited vocabulary. An excellent way to expand this vocabulary, improve their grammar and - most importantly - teach a sense of the intonation of the new language - is to sing songs.

En las etapas iniciales del aprendizaje de idiomas, los niños tienen un vocabulario limitado. Una excelente manera de expandir el vocabulario, mejorar su gramática y - más importante - demonstrar la entonación de la nueva lengua - es cantar canciones.

Each song we sing has a specific focus for language learning.
For example, songs about parts of the body are great fun for children to sing as they can move about, point to the part of the body, learn the pronunciation and the repetition of words helps them to remember the words forever.

Cada canción que cantamos tiene un foco específico para el aprendizaje de idiomas.
Canciones sobre las partes del cuerpo son una gran diversión para los niños a cantar, ya que pueden moverse, señale la parte del cuerpo, aprender la pronunciación y la repetición de palabras les ayuda a recordar las palabras para siempre.

In my class, we sing these songs:

'One Finger, One Thumb, Keep Moving'

We also enjoy singing: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. This is a funny version! ¡Un versión divertida!

We are just beginning to learn this song which teaches vocabulary, questions and prepositions. Empezemos a aprender este canción que enseña vocabulario, preguntas y preposiciónes.
